Dear all,
This is a nice website that might be helpful in understanding the Raman effect.

Dear all,
Attached is the raw data for the Raman lab. We gave them German names for the time being.

Hi class,
Attached is the data for sample 2.

Dear all,
Below is the general idea of how to do a lab write up. I'm sure many of you have seen this before.
After the labs, I will post the results on the blog so you can obtain the data that was obtained during your lab. I will make sure that the data is on the blog by the end of the lab day. If I have any specific questions I would like you to answer in your lab, I will make sure to include it in a blog post.

The Lab Write Up
Title:
What is this all about anyway? In a
nutshell, how would you describe your investigation?
Purpose: Here you can expand on your title. This is where you
should put your hypothesis.
Materials: Describe the materials you used.
Safety
Procedures: Make sure other people
who try this at home know what the dangers are and how to avoid them.
Procedures: Give a detailed description of what you did. That
way another brilliant scientist can recreate your work or figure out exactly
what you did.
Data
and Analysis: Put all the relevant
data here. You should put in all data and calculations you used to come up with
your conclusion. Putting your aunt's shoe size, while interesting, is usually
not important to your investigation.
Uncertainty
(Error) Analysis: Here you should
explain where your conclusions could be wrong or how certain you are of your
data. (e.g. "Since the kangaroo was jumping at the time and we were
driving along in the car, we could only measure it's height to plus or minus 10
cm.")
Conclusion:
Tie it all together. Tell us if you
found data to support your hypothesis (your guess was right) or not. Tell us if
you had to change your hypothesis and what it all means. Note, this part must relate to your
purpose. If it doesn’t either your
conclusion or your purpose is incorrect.

Dear class,
This morning only 1 person showed up on time for the lab while we were expecting a group of 5!
Since
this class is based on doing the labs, attendance is a requirement.
Therefore, the grade that you receive will be based on attendance as
well as the lab writeup.
If you do not show up to the lab that you were assigned, your
lab report will have 50% taken off automatically. You may switch to a different lab
group only if you get permission from me in advance.
I hope to see you in subsequent labs.

Hi all,
Just a reminder that we are doing the Raman lab this week and it will be held in the Centralized Characterization Facility: Bossone 1st floor. Ioannis will be doing the Raman lab with you.
I will post details on the lab writeup shortly.

I subsituted #1 and #2 for a couple
of people who gave me their schedules but forgot to write their name.
Please reply with your names.
Everyone- Please double check that your schedules don't overlap with

minutes early to get to your next class, this is fine.
These are all the schedules I have received. If your not on the list
below, send me your schedule as soon as possible so I can add you to a
lab. Any other questions, let me know.

Hi,
before you can enter the lab you need to send a prove of your safty training to Patricia.
Three safety trainings are required for our labs:
1.) Laser systems
2.) Compressed gas
3.) Chemicals
If you have already attended these classes please send the confirmation to Patricia. Without this prove you are not allowed to enter the lab.
In the case that you have not attended the safety class here is how it works: Attend the following online course:
http://www.drexelresearchtraining.com/Login.aspx
You may be required to create an account first. After registering you can select the mentioned safety classes.
Hope that works,
Ioannis
