For the first time ever, the Materials Science and Engineering is offering MatE 100: Materials for Emerging Technologies on Thursday and Friday, March 26th and 27th of 2009.

Since this is a revolving blog from year to year, please note that all entries below this post pertain to the MatE 100 course offered Fall term of 2008 and previous.  Everything above this post, obviously, will be for the Spring term 2009 course (and newer).

Written individual (not team) reports for "Composites for a Buck" are due by 4:00 pm today 10/24/08, and should be handed in at the Department of Materials Science and  Engineering (MSE) main office - room 344, located on the 3rd floor of the LeBow Engineering Center.

For those who elected to write the 12-15 page paper - those should be E-mailed (Word or PDF format) directly to your MSE Dept. Advisor - check the MSE Dept. web page for the faculty E-mail addresses.

Dear Everyone,

I hope your first term is going well. Just a brief reminder that the testing for the "Composites for a Buck" beam-building team projects will be on Friday, October 17, between 2:30 pm (NOT 2:00 pm) and ~5:30 pm in the Hill Seminar Room, which is Room 240 on the 2nd floor of the LeBow Engineering Center.

Your individual (NOT team) written reports (2-3 pages in length) are due by 4:00 pm one week later (i.e. Friday, October 24) and should be handed in (hard copies only) at the Materials Engineering Department main office - 3rd floor of the LeBow Engineering Center.

Welcome to the Materials 2-Day Course, "Materials for Emerging Technologies"!  Below is the student list, along with group assignments.  If you need to find the email address of a teammate (and haven't already gotten it from them), please use Drexel's Search.

The vast majority of grades for the reports etc. for the 2007 MATE 100 2-day course have now been posted. The graded reports are available for collection from Mrs. Trachtman in the MSE Department main office, located on the 3rd floor of the LeBow Engineering Center. Any questions regarding the reports should be directed to your MATE 100 advisor.

If you do not see a grade for yourself in Banner then it is likely that you were registered for the maximum 19 credits this term and were therefore not officially registered for MATE 100. This means that you have the 2 credits available in a future Fall or Spring term - the only two terms of the academic year that MATE 100 is officially offered. In order to receive the 2 credits in a future Fall or Spring term you need to contact Mrs. Trachtman ahead of time and ask to be registered for the course, and then, at the end of that term, your grade will be entered into Banner.

The testing of the beams for the "Composites For A Buck" hands-on part of MATE 100 will be held today, in the Bossone Research Enterprise Center, 3rd Floor Atrium, between 2:30 and 5:30 pm.

 If you have a class conflict then it's OK if not all team members attend.

 Remember to bring a pen and paper to note down the results...mass and load-bearing capacity of your beams, how they broke and so on...all good information for your written reports, which are due a week from today, on October 19th.

Hi everyone! Welcome to this year's MATE 100 2-day course blog. The course starts tomorrow in the William F. Mitchell auditorium located in the Bossone Research Enterprise Center. It'd be a good idea to come along a little earlier than the specified 9:00 am start time, to give yourself time to collect the course notes, pick up a lab group schedule and so on.

Other information will be posted on this blog as we progress through the course...things like links to the list of lab groups and project assignments etc.
