Applications Engineer, Large Area Joining
COMPANY: Late stage start-up company, well into commercialization, that develops and manufactures products to precisely control the instantaneous release of heat energy for reaction initiation and joining applications. Building from its strengths in material science, computer modeling and process engineering, provides solutions to its partners and customers in commercial and defense industries.
POSITION: Applications Engineer, Large Area Joining
REPORTS TO: Global Vice President of Sales
SUMMARY: Provide product and application technical support to new and existing customers to grow sales of NanoFoil and NanoBond services in sputtering target bonding.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Work with customers and field sales personnel on application engineering projects to apply current NanoFoil-based products into existing and new sputter target bonding applications.
• Work with Development Engineering and Marketing to define, develop and introduce new NanoFoil-based products and processes that solve customer problems in sputter target bonding.
• Knock down technical barriers and resolve any customer concerns with the use NanoFoil and their applications.
• Provide technical training to sales personnel and customers.
• Develop an in-depth knowledge base for the NanoFoil product and NanoBond applications by writing and maintaining product data sheets, technical bulletins, product MSDSs and literature.
• Support technical needs of the Sales and Marketing organizations to attain strategic and tactical plan objectives.
• Match and recommend RNT’s NanoFoil products to meet the needs of specific customer applications. Provide engineering support to help optimize the customer’s processes.
• Function as the technical voice-of-the-customer within RNT. Identify and highlight any significant new product opportunities and any shortcomings with current products to Business Development and Development Engineering
• Illustrate the correct application of foil to customers’ manufacturing personnel in microelectronic assembly shops.
• Perform root cause analysis to rapidly address customer quality issues. Engineer solutions to the quality issues.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Knowledge of thin film sputtering applications and products, understanding of target bonding technologies
• Understanding of customer applications and processing technology to assist process engineering application development efforts for resolving customer concerns.
• Three (3) to five (5) years of related process engineering/ development or technical service experience.
• Strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
• Ability to travel 15 – 25%.
• Good oral, written and computer skills required.
• Ability to speak Mandarin, Japanese or Korean would be an asset.
EDUCATION: B.S. in, Engineering, Material Science or Chemistry
