Career Planning
For those of you who have not yet secured job offers, Al Singmaster, a local recruiter, will apparently be attending the next ASM Liberty Bell Chapter meeting on March 15th 2007. This represents a great Networking opportunity, so bring along a current copy of your Resume, have a chat with Al Singmaster, get on his "books"...it can only help. Chris Hovanec will post a sign-up sheet for the meeting nearer the time.
Being a member of a professional society is extremely beneficial...not only are they sources of technical information [handbooks, journals, conferences] but also for career planning and management. Member benefits include posting your resume on their web sites and access to job postings. The Material Advantage program is especailly good value, offering as it does, student membership of ASM International, TMS, ACerS and AIST, all for $25! The value continues after graduation too...with reduced membership rates during the early years after graduation. Given that full membership of most societies is over $100 each, membership of 4 for $25 is an amazing deal that I encourage you all to take advantage of.
